Joyce joined Mary Alice Jackson in March 2016 as her legal secretary.
She was born in Okinawa, Japan and spent her early years traveling in the US, Europe, and the Middle East with her family while her father was in the military. She moved to Austin in 1980 and finished high school here. She has lived in Dallas, Guatemala, and New York, working in the hospitality industry and owned a folk art gallery in Deep Ellum in Dallas.
She graduated from the University of Texas, Austin with a BA in History in January of 2000 and embarked on a career teaching students with special needs at Anderson High School in Austin. She then went to work in standardized testing with Data Recognition Corporation assessing test responses, managing teams of readers, and as the administrative assistant to the content specialist and scoring directors at their offices in Austin.
Her hobbies are gardening, cooking, and jewelry design.
